Punjab Train to Ludhiana (Punjab) A funny story

Filed under: Short Stories — Ankur Lekhi @ 4:43 pm

Well I love Punjab that’s not because I am living in India and I love my country, this is just only because of the fact that I am always surrounded by computer, concrete and all that stuff that one human being hate to be with. Firstly I would like to give my introduction once again, name- you can find on the top of this page – Ankur Lekhi. Working in Technology Department for BPO company and I love to develop my own websites in free time.

I was working in my office on Monday and I called up my uncle in Ludhiana and want to confirm about his plans for weekend. As normal retired person he was also free and I got green signal for my journey. Tickets were being booked from the internet and every formality was being ful-filled as I want to travel on Saturday by Shan-e-Punjab.

One thing I want to mention here that I was working @ nights so for me it was just coming from office and boarding the train. Well for the greenery I think one will go ahead.

D day came and I reached the station with all my luggage to platform no3 of New Delhi Railway Station with my brother. Well as I had booked tickets online, I got window seat which was desired as I want to catch some sleep.

Anyways story is going to begin from here, first of all I would like to tell the map of train, there are row of seats with 3 each, the best way will be 2X3 in a row.
With me there should be 2 more travelers. Well I got surprise of my life, one good Punjabi aunty was seating with her daughter. Daughter was cute and like her, however don’t want to get some good beating in the day train.

Auntiji was really good at doing some charity. First of all she was seating at my seat and asked me like a police office questioning a thief- Show me Your Ticket – I felt blood rushing in my viens, I controlled, and showed her printout. After seeing my ticket (as she was not able to understand English) she asked her daughter to take a look. She nodded in positive. I got sigh of reliever however the most magic moment was yet to be there, she said promptly- “you can sit wherever you feel” and by saying this she occupied Window Seat. I was astonished to see her guts at that time. I requested firmly – “Aunty ji this is my seat.” Well this make her feel bad and she start murmuring however I got my seat.

I want to sleep for a while and tried to do that and found that there are 4 people sitting on a berth of 3, I want to complain however that aunti-ji had made her so called relative comfortable. Now there are 4 people. Now so called relative of auntiji has 4 kids with her.. They also wants some space so, 2 of them were in lap and other 2 were roaming here and there for some space which they gradually got.

Now we are around 7 people sitting and I have adjust with making some good faces and I hate this treatment being given. I tried to complained however everything was in vein. Now I start drinking a coke – for me drinking its normal- friends you wont believe me all the kids and most of the people are staring me and my coke. I don’t know why. I just want to ignore them. However they were chatting about me.. big man traveling in a second class for the first time, I can hear some cool words about me…

The moment I reached ambala station I called up my papa and was chatting to him , the same time, one hawker came to sell something and sold some puris and alloo to kid, I think he deliberately made my pants eat that. Oh!! My god I just ended my levis to eat this stuff. After all they were all happy.

Now they want to stand at window seat. Think about this narrow lane 7 people sitting on a seat of 3 and now other 4 wants to come at window. Literally 3 of them were standing (or I should rather say they were jumping on my foot) I was praying to god Journey to Ludhiana should end .

This is partially true and sorry for making it less interesting as i cannot add some of the Punjabi abusive words here :)

Beijing Olympics - Could be a nightmare

Filed under: Special News & Events — Ankur Lekhi @ 11:40 am

Olympics? Yes this word is on everybody’s lips in Beijing. As the time of Olympic is coming near Beijing government is stepping more faster in implementing there plans. Beijing is having many plans to welcome the Olympics in the coming 2008.

Whenever a country take the responsibility of organizing Olympics at there home after announcing it they just get into the renovation of the whole country specially of those parts where the Olympics are being said to be organized. But, in Beijing the technology is very much hi-tech so they are care free from that side but what’s they main problem which is being faced by the Beijing government is the air pollution problem. Now this is a very much big ask for the Beijing that they have to make the air thin and clean so that the players could get fresh air to participate in the Olympic games. moreover, the second big problem for the government is that they don’t have much people who can become a good translators because in Beijing the percentage of people knowing English is very much less.

So till now date it is being expected that the visitors may have to communicate with help of sign language with the transporters. Let us Hope for the best for these Olympics and wish luck to all the countries who are taking part in the Olympics of 2008.

Behave People- Delhi Metro

Filed under: Personal — Ankur Lekhi @ 11:32 am

In Delhi everybody know that who is the new life line of Delhi. Yes, today I m talking about the life line of Delhi “DELHI METRO”. Delhi the capital of India often known as “delhi dil waalon ki” but from the arrival of metro it has increased its status. But wherever there is a good thing automatically bad gets there.

The bad thing about Delhi metro is nothing but the controlling method is not there the made the announcement that eatables and drinking is prohibited in Delhi metro but people of Delhi instead of supporting it they broke these rules. I had often seen many couples roaming here and there on the metro stations I just can’t understand that if this is a public place then why are you making private affairs here. One must keep its personal affairs to it’s personal places where no can put any obligation on them. But, it doesn’t means that only bad and rules breaking persons are traveling in the metro rather some persons are this much good that they help the metro staff to keep up with there duty.

But, at some stations metro staff is very much keen to help you and at some stations they behave like they are the owner of the metro. The main problem comes at the stations where people have to interchange there metro like Rajiv chowk and Kashmiri gate. I have often seen at Rajiv chowk that people don’t listen to the announcement that “first let the passengers deboard the train” but the people there behave like that the current metro is the last one and they break all the rules and regulations. I don’t know who should be blame I leave this decision on you. Now you have to tell me that what we do and to whom should we blame. “I m waiting, for feedback from my readers”. Thank you
